The harm of PCBA pollution may directly or indirectly lead to the potential risk of PCBA, for example:
1. The organic acid in the residue will cause corrosion to PCBA;
2. During the electrification process, the electric ions in the residue cause electromigration due to the potential difference between the solder joints, resulting in a short-circuit failure of the product;
3. The residue affects the coating effect;
4. After time and ambient temperature changes, cracking and warping of the coating will cause problems with the reliability of the product.
PCBA contamination refers to any surface impurities, deposits, adsorbed substances, and slag inclusions that reduce the chemical, physical, or electrical properties of the PCBA to unacceptable levels. In order to improve the reliability and quality of electronic products, the presence of residues during PCBA processing is strictly controlled, and these pollutants must be completely removed when necessary.

The pollution of PCBA mainly has the following aspects:
(1) PCBA surface contamination will be caused by contamination or oxidation of PCBA components and PCB circuit boards;
(2) Handprints will be produced during manual soldering, and some wave soldering paw prints and soldering tray (fixture) prints will be produced during wave soldering. There may be other types of pollutants on the PCBA surface to varying degrees, such as hole glue, high temperature tape residue glue, fingerprints and flying dust;
(3) In the manufacturing process of PCBA, soldering, welding wire, etc. are required for welding. The flux will produce residues during the soldering process, which will pollute the surface of the PCBA board and is the main pollutant;
(4) Electrostatic pollution caused by dust, water and solvent fumes, steam, particulate organic matter, and charged particles attached to PCBA in the workplace.
